[ Test regularly ]

80% of diabetic patients are not monitoring their diabetic control regularly.

There are many reasons patients do not want to test. One being the test result is always higher than expected or he patient has trouble.
These patients must find the reason quickly and correct it. Diabetic education seminars give a lot of assistance to these patients.
The patients that have not controlled their diabetes for long periods of time need not expect a quick fix in a short period of time.
Education and self-discipline and time will correct uncontrolled diabetes.

If the patient loses the initial first chance to get their diabetes under control, it is difficult to catch it again. The diabetic patient in the beginning stage has a much better chance of controlling and doing well in a few months.
The patient with the later stage uncontrolled diabetes sometimes forget they even have diabetes.
When they discover their sugar level to be high all of a sudden they panic and get upset.

The frequency of the testing is at least twice a day. Before breakfast and after dinner when the patient is controlling well.
If the patient is getting better then they can reduce their testing time to 2-3 times per week depending on the control. You may use the urine test or the blood test alternately.
This will reduce the testing time and expense and pain of injection.

The test that figures the patient¡¯s 3 month average blood sugar level is not very good. The best evaluation test is how the patient controlled their levels for the past three months.
If the test result is 6-7% this is very good control for past 3 months. If it is 7-8%, fairly good. If the result is over 8%, the patient should find out the cause of non-control as soon as possible.
